As part of his recent support for the South African qualifiers for the Gothia Cup (played at Thanda Private Game Reserve in 2007, thanks to the support of the Thanda Private Game Reserve and the accompanying Thanda Foundation), international football legend, Sven-Göran Eriksson, recently visited Thanda Royal Zulu.

Sven-Göran Eriksson is currently the football manager of Manchester City, having stepped down from his previous position as the manager of the English national football team following England's exit from the 2006 World Cup.

The Gothia Cup has been played in Gothenburg, Sweden for the past 20 years, with 1 500 teams from across the globe participating annually. The tournament is open to boys and girls between the ages of 11 and 19, and over the years 730 000 youths from 124 different countries have participated in the tournament.

At Thanda Private Game Reserve, in April 2007, the Gothia Cup was complemented by live entertainment by top Gallo recording artist, Pro Kid, and Swedish group, Triple and Touch. The weekend tournament proved to be an inspirational event in the lives of thousands of students, who benefited from this positive and exciting opportunity.
